Description:

Various Projections was created in a week’s time inside the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art in Arizona 2007. I had been invited to exhibit there and my proposal was to make an installation based on my experience there and things I would find. All I asked for was a video projector and speakers. First I thought I should meet the mountains, as I always see them as the first inhabitants of a place, so I took a drive around the area outside the city and picked a rock, a dead tree branch and a plastic bucket I found inside a bush by the side of the road. Then I took a 2 × 4 that was inside the museum, and started composing a piece around these objects. The name “Various Projections” comes from simply projecting different images, animations and films onto the same objects. It was interesting to see how the same things can be seen completely different depending on what was projected onto them. For me there was a parallel to how we think and see the environment, it can change so much depending on how we feel or how we think.
