The Troll’s Studio

Ugh & Boogar set up camp in the main exhibition hall of the museum. They basically moved all their things there and borrowed artworks from artists that have worked with the troll theme or similar character making in the past.

In the centre of were two large screens, their iPads, where two chat-bots representing the troll’s brains talked about the other artists that have worked with trolls.

Two artists from outside of Iceland were also invited; Tove Vrånes from Norway and Tove Jansson from Finnland. Ugh & Boogar found this very exciting and talked a lot about it. They are fans of Vrånes’ work and also of The Moomins by Jansson.

Children that visited the exhibition loved the troll shit that is on top of the piano. I guess that never misses it’s goal with children. The Troll-kacke was made for the Icelandic Pavilion in 2017 and we made an attempt to sell it at the front store, but no one acquired anything.

The gold jewelries in the front of the picture, are also from 2017. Ugh & Boogar got obsessed with shiny art after they saw Damien Hirst’s diamond scull and some of his work at the Venice Biennial and demanded that I would help them make these giant rings and necklaces. They were shown in two semi paralell shows in i8 gallery in Iceland and at Anhava gallery in Helsinki the same year.
