Grey Still Life - different moments in the projection
Description:
Grey Still Life I, was made as I thought of classic still life paintings and how I could interpret that in this kind of a work. So, I painted these objects grey, remembering specially the Sponge Bob Character that I loved so much at that time, and built a shelf and put all together on the shelf. Then I started making different animations that I projected over the objects and experimented with music as well and intuitively constructed the dramaturgical plot, with a quieter and a more busy parts. In painting, shadows and light, the grey scale use, is important to render the physicality of the objects in the picture, so I remember that I filmed myself walking around with a lamp, recording the shadows and light changing, and then I could project that back onto the objects themselves. The universe that is built inside the work is really like the universe inside a painting, or any picture that we make, it has it’s own laws and tells stories on many layers, that are quite open for anyone to see for themselves.
